Visit http://www.aurora-clinics.co.uk/face-surgery/earlobe-repair/ for more information on split or stretched earlobe repair. Stretched earlobes are an increasing fashion, especially amongst certain crowds, and is probably most popular amongst teenagers. However, the decision to have a stretched earlobe doesn't always last forever, with many people looking in the mirror and regretting the big holes they have stretched into their earlobes. People also find employers can be slightly prejudiced by judging them on their appearance of stretched earlobes before they even open their mouth. It can be a hindrance in job interviews, and some sectors don't allow it at all, for example the army do not admit people with stretched earlobes. During this video we will see Mr. Richards repairing an earlobe that has been stretched. Because of the conversation that the patient and Mr. Richards had during the surgery, we have done a voiceover of Mr. Richards explaining the procedure. The reason we did this is because our patient was speaking about his work and didn't want all that broadcast over the internet. Enjoy the video, and give it a share, as we are fully aware of the increasing popularity in earlobe correction surgery. So we begin, as usual with Mr. Richards making the marking on the earlobe. As he states on the video, the marking is important, and will be different on every patient. It depends entirely on the size of the stretch, the ear shape of the patient, and how much spare lobe they have too. After this stage, it is time for the local anaesthetic. The patient is awake for the entire procedure, and chats away with Adrian, and his team. This is the only point where our patient will potentially feel any pain, and it isn't too bad really. Then we move onto the actual cutting. Mr. Richards cuts along the markings to remove the piece of earlobe, before cauterizing the wound to stop it bleeding. The ear bleeds quite a bit, as it has an excellent blood supply. Mr. Richards explains this in a bit more detail on the voiceover, before we get on with the stitching process. We are talked through the stitching, with Mr. Richards telling us what he is up to and why he does it in a certain way. This pretty much finishes off the video, with us seeing the final appearance of the ear, and Mr. Richards showing the piece of earlobe he has removed to the patient.
